About Mary Wright

My background is in communications with many years spent in the restaurant business prior to owning Silver Cloud. I waited tables, bartended, cooked, managed and consulted in restaurants, a brewpub and a deli. I started guiding when I turned 30 - late in this business! I can keep up with the younger guides most of the time, it just takes me a lot longer to recover from a week on the river. I took Duncan, my firstborn, down 180 miles of river when I was six months pregnant - those were two interesting trips - I thought if I wore an oversize t-shirt that guests would not notice I was pregnant... I learned to love hot food at Trini & Carmen's, a wonderful family-owned Mexican restaurant in my hometown. When I started working there, I didn't like spicy food. It wasn't long before I was smothering my meals with the hottest sauce I could get; I have explored hot peppers and ethnic food every since. Experimenting with food, beer and wine is a passion.
