Silver Cloud Expeditions offers Idaho steelhead fishing trips from 1 to 6 days. The Salmon River offers a unique combination of federally protected wilderness, a clean free-flowing river and numerous fishing opportunities.

During spring and fall our quarry are steelhead - trophy ocean-run rainbow trout. Steelhead return to the Salmon River in the fall, robust and heavy from 1 to 2 years of feeding in the Pacific. They range from 4-20 pounds, averaging 7. After the fall season ends in December, Salmon River steelhead winter over, providing a spring season in March and April. Our 1-day, 3-day and 5-day steelhead fishing trips are described below.

We also offer trout fly fishing trips. The Salmon River system holds excellent populations of west slope cutthroat trout, which readily take dry and wet flies. We offer a 6-day trout fly-fishing trip August 31st each year, or you can charter a custom date of your choice.

1 DAY STEELHEAD FISHING
Single day trips start and end in Salmon, and include:

• Full day of steelhead fishing from a heated drift boat for two fishermen
• Lunch with hot and cold beverages
• Spinning tackle and lessons if requested. We specialize in spoon and fly-fishing. For fly fishermen we will recommend specific tackle to bring. Two fishermen per boat, three boats per day maximum.

Spring: mid-February, March and mid-April
Fall: October, November, and early December

MULTI-DAY WILDERNESS STEELHEAD FISHING
Silver Cloud multi-day trips include air and ground charters and explosive steelhead sport fishing. We raft a 60-mile section of the River of No Return, probing deep riffles for fish migrating upstream to spawn. The wildlife and scenery during this time of year are as exciting as the fishing. Minimum of 4 and maximum 8 fishermen per trip, 2 per boat. The entire river can be fished with spinning gear. There are also frequent fly-fishing runs in the canyon. Typical departure dates are shown, although fishing conditions vary from year to year - feel free to inquire about other dates to suit your plans.

Suggested Departure Dates - Mid-October through early November
First group to book a given date chooses the option (Camping or Lodge-to-Lodge) for that trip:

Camping Option: 5 days of fishing, one night at Salmon River Lodge prior to launch, 4 nights of comfortable camping with wall tent for eating and socializing, all meals, spin fishing gear, camping and boating gear.
Trip Fare - $2200

Lodge-to-Lodge Option: 5-day trips with stops at rustic lodges each night along the river. Includes all meals, spin fishing gear and boating gear.

6 DAY SALMON RIVER TRIBUTARY TROUT FLY FISHING
Trip includes ground transportation from Salmon to Corn Creek launch site, one night at Salmon River Lodge before the trip and 5 nights of comfortable wilderness camping. Salmon River cutthroat populations are healthy, vibrant fish stocks that are found throughout the system. Catch and release fishing has allowed the fishery to prosper. We raft 30-40 miles of the River of No Return depending on water conditions, camping, hiking, exploring side canyons and fly fishing for cutthroat trout. Minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 fishermen per trip.
