Salmon River Steelhead Fishing
During spring and fall our quarry are steelhead – trophy ocean-run rainbow trout that return to the Salmon River in the fall, robust and heavy from 1 to 2 years of feeding in the Pacific. They range from 4-20 pounds, averaging 7. After the fall season ends in December, Salmon River steelhead winter over, providing a spring season in late February, March and April. We offer fishing trips from 1 to 5 days long. Trip options include fall and spring season drift boat fishing day trips near Salmon, Idaho and multi-day wilderness fishing (fall only).

Salmon River Chinook Salmon Fishing
During July we chase Chinook salmon. Our season usually kicks in around the first week of July, continuing for 2-3 weeks. There is nothing like catching a salmon on the Salmon River, near Salmon, Idaho. This is one of the longest salmon runs on earth, with adults travelling over 750 miles against the headwind of peak spring river flows to return to Idaho. For 2011, the limit is 6 total salmon, no more than 2 of which may be adults. Adults are 24 or more inches long, jacks are less than 24 inches. Adults run from 9 to over 25 pounds and average 13 pounds. Only Salmon with a clipped adipose fin can be kept. The season officially opens on June 25 for the reach from Salmon City to the mouth of the Pahsimeroi. The section of river from North Fork to Salmon City opens on July 2.
