About Us

Your Hosts
Chris Swersey and Mary Wright have guided on Idaho’s Salmon River for over 21 years. Their two boys, Duncan and Connor, have grown up on the Salmon. Mary was six months pregnant with Duncan on his first river trip; he rowed the entire 80 mile wilderness section by himself at age 13. Connor ran the river for the first time at 3 years and was big brother’s first mate on his initiation trip manning the oars.

Chris has guided commercially since 1988. He had a 10-year career as an award winning craft brewer and professional beer judge, and currently serves as Technical Brewing Projects Coordinator for the Brewers Association and Competition Manager for the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup. He is the brains on the business side, our fishing guru and chief beer taster.

Mary started guiding Silver Cloud trips in 1990; today she is our menu guru, chief organizer and number one wine taster. She spent many years in the restaurant business consulting, bartending, waiting tables and running the kitchen. She served almost four years as Executive Director of River Discovery, a nonprofit that provides Salmon River adventure programs to teen and adult cancer survivors.

Chris and Mary continually search for new beer, wine and food pairings during the off season.

Our Philosophy
We want to share an Idaho gem, the Salmon River, with our guests and have them leave knowing they are now part of the Silver Cloud family. We believe that our guests want to enjoy an authentic wilderness camping experience shared with their family and friends. We offer an escape from the pressures of everyday life – leave your cell phones and Nintendo behind. You will find warm hospitality, new friends, exciting boating, delicious meals and comfortable camping. See you on the river!
